Review: Common proves time and time again that he is anything but common. From sharing his ideas on beauty he brings new understanding on hip hop. Being the political ideas slipped in, I’ll refrain and keep to the music.

Going with the musical vibes of loving hip hop, Common continues to bring a connection to himself and a genre gone array. As hard as he tries most of the credibility for the arena has been lost with much of the fluff that has invaded. The 90s feel of the Mind Control album is strong but is it strong enough to revive the beauty that was once hip hop? Unfortunately not. Many songs were strongly liked on this album but I would only see myself taking about 3 or 5 of the tracks along for an mp3 ride. The others would only be visited on special nostalgic days.

Though I like Common, some of the songs were simply not vibing with me when it came to connecting and finding a deep love. Guess I’ll go back to Like Water for Chocolate and relive our first musical encounter together. 7.5 blades and a B- for this album.
