Review: Growing as a strong actress and returning to her main craft, Jill Scott has returned with a great project. The Light of the Sun has the smooth Philly DBPC flavor that Scott is known for. There just seems to be a flurry of interludes and fillers that I don’t recall being on her earlier projects. So In Love (ft Anthony Hamilton), Making You Wait, Until Then (I Imagine), and Quick were all strong contributions to the album. All Cried Out Redux (ft. Dougie Fresh) was alright. I could have done without some of the chit chat filler. Light of the Sun was a nice jazz feel to have on the album. The bonus tracks, Soul Love Bounce & I Love You, were also great listens. 8 blades and a B for this project.
