Bound By Substance: Dead Wrong
The boys of Queens are back and they brought the fire with them. The new EP, Dead Wrong is hard hitting and kicking ass from beginning to end. Wail got me energized and got me amped for the whole day. Made me want to lock someone in a basement and play this song. Similar to a flashback from Saw I when the doc woke up next to a body in some dimly lit room. Just very energizing. Hot!!
La Folie de Charles made me go read the lyrics for this one. I'm guessing it's a twisted love story of a guy who believes he knows what love is, but ends up screwing up his relationship. A story that many guys and ladies know all too well. Can one allow another to love them or will they continue to fuck shit up and not fully understand why they do the shit they do. Can this be love, infatuation or pity? At least this is what I'm getting - I could and probably am totally off base, but it's my interpretation so suck it bitches!
The fellas came back with a new line up and the show is more electrifying than before. Every member gives you a reason to party once they begin to jam their asses up on that stage. They roped me in with Drink the Water from their Rusted Time EP and now this second EP has me bound to find out what else this group has up their sleeves. Having shots of Patron is best partnered with this EP as the solo on Act III breaks things down. Just let it ride for a minute - hell rewind that bitch and let it marinate! I'll save my spit for later - no hate here, no hate here.
Soon we learn just why Jersey is a state to send overflow trash to in Garden State Prison. That's one low-grade spot, a place with plenty of quiet neighborhoods. That’s where your soul dies as you drive through the smog-infested wasteland. Whiskey, fuck that I wish I smoked weed. I need something hard to make it alive. "…it’s time to pack, cause I know we're never coming back, to this Garden State Prison…" Tell 'em Hank!! I damn sure don't want to go back; unless for Happy Hour at that York bar near the Path Train.
The last tune on here was Letters and that shit was the best way to shut things out. Leaving the crowd wanting more! This letter to God begging for Him to make the serpent go away is the shit that I'll be saying each time I see McCain's or Obama's faces splash on my television screen. Don't come again you filthy bums!
This is a must add to the audio files you may already have. Make room on the iPods because these fellas can now be found on iTunes. Check out the link to their main site but clicking on the EP cover above. There you’ll find out where to contact the guys from Bound By Substance and more details on their October 3rd gig at The Bitter End. Stop by and watch them do the damn thing!
TBC Rating: 10 blades to this group for bringing their A game. Can't wait to see what else they have in store for their fans.
Officially Dropped: August 2008
