Joy or Misery?

Album: Joy

Artist(s): Fefe Dobson

Official/Original Drop Date: November 22, 2010

Grade: C+

Blade(s): 6.5

Bottom-line: Nice rock edge

Review: This sista has been on the scene for a while and this is her second full LP project. Joy is hard hitting with the beats but do her lyrics and talent match up? They are cute for the young rockers and those who want a break from the pop/r&b invasion. Dobson’s track, You Bitch, tells the story of a girl willing to fight the new chick that “stole” her man. The question remains, was he yours to begin with?

I Want You is a track that is on the annoying side and has been adopted as a theme song for some commercials. That may explain why I can’t take it for to long. Dobson has a slight flavor of The Runaways and other 70s/80s female rockers. The teen rebel-tone gives this album a chance. The rock ballads are good plays and helped to keep my attention. Dobson has strong studio vocals but I’m curious to see/hear hoe she is live.

Regardless, the album gets 6.5 blades and a C+.
