Review: This weekend was the debut of ‘Brooklyn’s Finest’ written by an ex-MTA employee and Brooklyn native, Michael C. Martin. Well this will most likely turn into another Negro classic as most, if not all, central Negro cast members were killed and the drunk, retired White police officer saved a kidnapped, White victim from forced prostitution run by two crazed Negros in the mist of the projects and walked away a stunned hero. Now that the spoiler is out, let the review begin. :drunk_tb:

This film was not an amazing piece of work but it is hailed as one for the fact that a Black screenwriter was able to get his first project picked up and developed. Alas, once again Negros are seen as brutal beasts and a small amount (one) police office is corrupt – they only found one; in Brooklyn, NY. His corruption is supposed to stem from his desire to feed his family but does it really matter especially since he murdered people so that he could steal to provide?

The story opened with a murder of an innocent Negro victim that was murdered by a crooked cop but was soon over-shadowed by the lack of consciousnesses for the Negro community. Every Negro seemed to be drug dealers, flesh peddlers, greedy for power, or just plain stupid. The top Negros in the police department were all tainted. The main undercover was deep for over two years and was placed in difficult positions to allow financial growth for all top White officials around him – he was extremely expendable. Then we have the White drunk retiree who banged out and fell in love with a prostitute only to get dumped by her. She was a Hispanic Negro.

It is nice to see a Negro have his work picked up and it being his first work, but do we reward foolishness especially if it is created by Negros? I gave Halle Berry her recognition in ‘Monster Ball’ because I thought she was good in the film. Everyone centralized her character based on ONE scene when she got her back blown out by a gross White man and said her Oscar win was bullshit. Yet, the world is embracing a film that is centered around bullshit. I live in Brooklyn and it is a respectable area. I’ve heard about it’s past, but I’m not living that now. I don’t dodge bullets or go to bed at the sound of sirens. I don’t live in the ghetto nor have I ever. If this film depicts the true essence of Brooklyn or its ghettos, then I dream and beg for regentrification – NOW.

Some are telling me that this film is true to the area and I say IF that is the case, then the area should hang its head down in shame and be burned to the ground. The current East New York is not filled with shit and losers. I know some of the places shown in the film and they had none of the nonsense showed going on. As many will state “it’s just a film,” I state that it is a film depicting a REAL location as a fucking jungle. Where is the out cry that there should be better representation of New York, hell – of fucking Brooklyn. I have seen Brooklyn at all times of the day from 8 AM to 5 AM and it has so much positivity and class that could be shown. Yet Negros are only shown hooking, stealing, murdering, and degrading their surroundings. Whites are seen as those who come in to clean up.

The ONE white man they showed as dirty was rightly dealt with, but still, they only found ONE? As much shit as folks talked about ‘Training Day’ it showed a large mix of filth from every where. Still was not the best representation since a projects filled with Negros was used as the base for drama but the dirt was spread throughout Blacks and Whites. I did not expect much from another hood film, and I was not disappointed. Funny, those who had a voice to condemn ‘American Gangster’, also filmed in Brooklyn, seemed to have turned mute for ‘Brooklyn’s Finest.’ If this is the Best Brooklyn has to offer, they need to start over from scratch. Throw out the baby with the bath water. This is a TNF (Typical Negro Film) that speaks of the corruption known by some but ignored by most while showing Negros as crazed loones and gets 2 blades. It had a storyline, a plot, kept me interested, but I was disgusted throughout the film at both the creator, distributors, and myself for watching.
