Bottom-line: I’ll pass…

Review: I keep attempting to give Big Boi & his crew opportunities and I continue to have lukewarm feeling. Sir Lucious was not an interesting album. Instead it confirmed that hot music tracks are the honey used to attract listeners. The lyrics are not doing the trick for me. Nice try. With Ringtone I suppose a woman is suppose to blush when told that she was chosen “over them other hoes.” How endearing. Sampling legendary classic tunes will not influence me into liking this album anymore. Magnificent (ft. John Legend & Rick Ross) was alright.

At this point I rather listen to his songs with Janelle Monáe and Bruno Mars; but these are just collabo projects that may draw new fans to him. H.A.T.E.U. is another song that Big Boi guest starred on and was a semi remake of a classic Miami Bass tune by Ghost Town D.J.’s called My Boo. This was a song off an old Mariah Carey album, Memories of an Angel.

There were just too many guests on Big Boi’s debut and I did not get the chance to only hear him shine (solo) on a couple of songs. Why are artists more and more afraid to shine on their own? Can it be that they are “shy,” or can it be they aren’t up to par? This album gets 3.5 blades and a WTF?
