Gone, the Irreplaceable Lena Horne

Singer Lena Horne, broke racial barriers as a Hollywood and Broadway star. She was famous for her velvety rendition of “Stormy Weather” and died on May 9 at age 92. She was a guest on a multiple of shows including “Sesame Street,” “The Muppet Show,” “The Cosby Show,” and “Sanford and Son.” In addition to her achievements on the stage and on screen, she worked as a civil rights activist. Despite her demands to have Janet Jackson dropped from a biopic that was to be made by ABC after the drama at the Superbowl, I still respect Horne for her work and struggles. The biopic has since to be made.
