Duffy Returns

Album: Endlessly

Artist(s): Duffy

Official/Original Drop Date: November 26, 2010

Grade: B-

Blade(s): 7

Bottom-line: Not as strong as I’d hoped.

Review: The strong vocalist Duffy resurfaces but to little acknowledgment. She is one of the actual singers that the WOS ignores because it rather push fluff artists instead of bonafide singers. The British import returns with her strong voice and OK songs. Since she’s been away this long better songs should have been created. Her debut U.S. album, ‘Rockferry,’ was a stronger creation.

Too Hurt to Dance and Don’t Forsake Me were just two of the stand out songs on the album, but this one is not “wowing” me like ‘Rockferry’ did. The songs and the combination of sound and lyrics were much more complimentary to each other than the work on this project. Endlessly was heard while I was drunk and the song made me feel suicidal. I wasn’t depressed until I heard that song. The sounds of the classic U.S. music Soul scene can still be heard on some of the songs but that still cannot make up for the loss I feel between the two projects. 7 blades and a B-.
