Review: Although the title of the album peaks my interest, the music leaves me seeking comfort elsewhere. From an interview supposedly by Ms. Badu explaining why she named her album she states the following:

I called it ‘Part II: The Return of the Ankh’ because this album is the sister of the left side of my brain – it is the right side.’Part I was the left side of my thoughts – it was more socially political and my thought process was more analytical. This time there wasn’t anything to be concerned with – the album is more emotional and flowy and talks about feelings. It reminds of the days of ‘Baduizm’ – this is just about beats and rhymes in a cipher.[2]

Even after reading this I was not impressed with the album. Bad enough the first part left me with a bad taste for Badu and her creativity, but now the second one strictly aimed to bore me to death. I’m all for artists letting lose and having fun on their projects, because if they don’t why would I enjoy listening to it. However, there was nothing fun about this album in listening to it since there was not a song on the album that I wanted to hold on to. Nothing to say I’d listen to it over and over or even one more time. This was a wasted project. A waste of time listening and a waste of funds. Only a die hard Badu listener would add this to his/her collection and even then it would only be to say that he/she has all the albums.
