Badu’s Window Seat Greets with April Fool’s Morning Treats

It must really be a fool’s day today as the well done video by Erykah Badu has gone beyond causing a stir on Twitter and YouTube. The drama heated up yesterday, March 31st with the following segment on CBS’s The Early Show by “news anchors”:

The frauds of the W.O.S. want to continue condemning Erykah Badu for making a video that she has stated was inspired by an old video by Matt and Kim – Lessons Learned. Seems like what she stated at the end of her video came true after all.

“They play it safe. Are quick to assassinate what they don’t understand. They move in packs. Ingesting more & more fear with every act of hate on one another. They feel more comfortable in groups. Less guilt to swallow. They are us. This is what we have become. Afraid to respect the individual. A single person within a circumstance can move one to change. To love herself. To evolve.”

Most only quote the first two lines of Badu’s thoughts and make it seem as though that’s all she had to say, if anything at all.

In their video, two Snows walk through Times Square in Manhattan, New York, strip BUTT ASS NAKED, get hemmed up by po-po and then the female gets hit by a New York City bus. Taking that concept and putting it in Dallas, where J.F.K. was shot and getting assassinated herself all of a sudden makes it a taboo when Badu lets loose for her video – Window Seat. Mind you Badu already stated that her political album was the lack luster called New Amerykah Part One (4th World War) but she switched things up and made this video from her second release (New Amerykah Part Two (Return of the Ankh)) a political statement – and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Talk about being overdramatic, but then again it was to be expected. A voluptuous Negro once again was not afraid to go the extra mile to make a point. This was not a typical sexploitation video where the purpose was to sell sex and shock. The purpose was to shock people into awareness, and the concept was lost because folks were too easily distracted by the flesh.

There was about a 3 minute monologue by Badu stating a strong view point at the end of the video but on The Early Show they quoted two lines and then cried about being an assassin. Perhaps they were too excited at the snip footage they watched and decided not to explore the entire video.

Maybe the icing on this spoiled American fruit cake, for me, could have been that Alice Cooper, known for beheading himself on stage and using fake blood, stated that he recently found out the purpose behind Badu’s video. He did not “pick up” on what badu was actually saying. He also claimed to never have used nudity because he thought it was too easy to shock. Give it a rest Cooper. No one wants to see you naked, not even your doctor during times of regular examinations. If this is what Legendary Rock looks like, then it needs to be put down. In the end, Cooper finally said something worth hearing:

“But art is art and we get back to that whole thing of who is judging art and is it art, what was her intention, what was the statement. When I finally found out was what she was saying … that’s pretty, you know — that’s a pretty deep shot right there. I didn’t pick up on that.”

The “news anchors” could not get enough sparks to fly over the sexual aspect so they aimed for the assassination POV (Point-of-View). All of a sudden where Kennedy was assassinated has become “sacred?”. If that the case then why are folks walking up and down the area. Folks continue to want to use excuses for them not understanding a situation. Since when was this place “sacred?” When Badu dropped trou? Whatever.
