A Breakdown In Quality?

Album: 21st Century Breakdown

Artist(s): Green Day

Official/Original Drop Date: May 15, 2009

Grade: C-

Blade(s): 5.5

Bottom-line: Decent play, but could be stronger.

Review: Green Day is a group I have grown to like. Some of their songs are right on topic, others could be ignored. 21st Century Breakdown is a decent album that brings a few issues up that seems the musicians are awake. Would they be one of the groups that are not afraid to use the Industry to get their messages out or will they be the new drivers of the machine – leading their listeners to slaughter?

With a Broadway show “American Idiot” being promoted as one of the best shows (it looks like a sequel to “Rent” to me), Green Day is a media darling for Rock. This album was ok but nothing to fall in love with. A few songs were good and others I’d be fine with never hearing again. A C- and 5.5 for an over hyped album. Hopefully the group can put at least 7 good songs on one album next time.
